Why Choose Us?

Choosing a Home Inspector is an Important decision….

If you talk with people who have bought a home in the past, or with your Realtor, you will find that there are a lot of questionable home inspectors out there…..

So How do you Know??

First of all, you want someone who is associated with an organization such as NAHI® ( National Association of Home Inspectors) or ASHI® (which is the American Society of Home Inspectors) because they require inspectors to follow a minimum “Standard of Procedures” when performing inspections. They also have a “Code of Ethics” which requires Inspectors to be professional and behave morally and ethically.

WE have chosen to belong to NAHI, although ASHI is also a very fine organization

WE have served as President, Vice-President, Secretary and Legislative chairmen for the local ASHI chapter.

In July 2001 the Commonwealth of Virginia started certifying Home Inspectors.

They spent a lot of time and effort in determining what was important to be a home inspector.

WE proudly are Commonwealth of Virginia CERTIFIED

Education and experience are important.

Do you want someone who has been a tradesman for 20 years inspecting your home? They may be great at being a carpenter, electrician, or plumber but what do they know about the other systems in a house??

According to ASHI, an ideal home inspector has an engineering background. They have years of technical training to fully understand and explain the various systems in a home and the problems it may have.

WE are a licensed Engineer and have been using our engineering background
for over 25 years performing inspections.

When a house is built the builder follows Building Codes that are created and adopted by the local authorities.

These Building codes are meant as a bare minum that should be followed in order to build a structurally sound and safe house.  The Builder is required by law to follow these codes.

While a Home Inspection is not a building Code inspection, doesn't it make sense that someone who is coming in to evaluate the condition of your home at least have some knowledge of these codes?  We do.  That is why we are Building Code certified by both the State of Virginia and the International Code Council (They are the organization that certifies local building code people)

Personal and Communication skills are just as important for an inspector as his technical skills. If the inspector can’t communicate to you his findings in a simple and easy to understand manner, what good is he?

We Strongly encourage clients to interact and talk with us during the inspection.

As we have said...

"we enjoy helping people make one of the most important decisions of their lives...we get great pleasure in explaining things about the home…."

Our goal is simple…
